Solution for pools’ disinfection and sterilization

Disinfection aims to destroy pathogens that are harmful to the health of the bather. It’s therefore a matter of keeping clear the water, disinfected and without unpleasant smells. The role of disinfection is to eliminate pathogens as quickly as possible and to fight them as soon as they are introduced into the pool. For these operations to be effective, sufficient concentration of disinfectant must be maintained in the pool water. The best disinfectant and, even today, the most effective is chlorine. However, there are some alternative solutions, to be considered.

STERILIZATION METHODS

CHLORINESALTULTRA-VIOLETOZONE

CHLORINE STERILIZATION

The most diffused treatment

Chlorine is the most common system used for pool’s sterilization. It has to be used in two different ways: for occasional shock treatments (for example after heavy rains, for the closure or re-opening of the pool) and for ordinary maintenance, for which it’s necessary to maintain free chlorine levels between 0.6 and 1.50 ppm, distributed evenly in the pool water. Chlorine maintenance is quite easy, it’s about checking the values and introducing the product in the water to restore them in case of non-standard variations. This procedure can also be done with comfortable slow-dissolving pastilles, as chlorine consumption is easily predictable under standard and constant conditions.

SALT STERILIZATION

Modern salt treatment

Salt sterilization is a very valid alternative to chlorine, especially for the minimum use of chemical reagents in water, which in this case are replaced by the presence of salt. Dissolved in water thanks to a control unit that monitors the quality of the water, it undergoes an electrolytic process in which it is decomposed into various elements including sodium hypochlorite (which in fact is the same chlorine disinfecting agent) which is then fed in water by sterilizing it.

  • With salt sterilization the perception of water taste is slightly salty and therefore usually more pleasant (3/4 grams per liter versus 30 grams of sea water).
  • There is no cyanuric acid, which occurs with normal chlorine sterilization. Substance sometimes irritating but necessary to prevent the sun from canceling the effect of chlorine in the water.
  • Salt sterilization ensures the quality of the sterilizing agent as it’s produced directly from the salt.

ULTRAVIOLET STERILIZATION

Safer for health

UV rays are a novelty in the field of water sterilization for swimming pools. The main production of sterilizers is chlorine monoxide: monochloramine, dichloramine, trichloramine.

Specifically, implants are more effective than average pressure, the only ones that polychromatic light and wavelengths are useful for destroying all types of chloramine mentioned above.

λ 245 nm, active for monocloroamine
λ 297 nm, active for dichloroamine
λ 340 nm, active for trichloroamine
λ: wavelength; nm: nanometers

OZONE STERILIZATION

For a safety disinfection

Sterilization through Ozone is the most modern and ecological solution for water sterilization stainless swimming pool. Water with micro-organisms and polluting substances needs constant disinfection to guarantee high standards of hygiene, especially in cases of great overcrowding. How is sterilization done? Due to its highly oxidizing potential, ozone affects the bacterial cell walls. This leads to damage following a destruction of all harmful cellular elements. This process is called Lysis.

IT GENERATES, DOESN’T RECHARGE

It’s generated thanks to an ozone generator that produces it on site. Through an installed system that generates gas and uses it for water disinfection, reducing costs and even space.

  • It does not release odors, for example those of chloroamines released from the chlorine processes.
  • Disinfectant also recommended by the Ministry of Health.
  • It leaves the water clear and transparent and does not alter the pH.
